Composting

What is it?

Composting is the process of making ‘compost’, a natural fertiliser, from organic waste.   Composting tries to create suitable conditions to enhance the natural decomposition process of organic waste.

How do you make compost?

The basic steps are:

  1. Choose and prepare your site (compost heap or customised container)
  2. Gather your materials (“green” nitrogen rich and “brown” carbon rich matter)
  3. Add compost materials in layers
  4. Cover
  5. Turn
  6. Marketing and sales
