Case study – Hard plastics

Pla Cam, Douala, Cameroon

Mr Jean Kenmoe is the Manager of Pla-Cam, a micro enterprise that transforms hard plastic waste into bowls which are sold in local markets.  Mr Kenmoe took part in the accredited business development training programme because he wanted to find ways to increase the production capacity of his business.  Through the training,  Mr Kenmoe was able to develop a comprehensive business plan for Pla-Cam and to carry out a detailed financial analysis of his businesses in order to identify how he could increase his profit margins.  The Waste to Wealth team also helped Pla-Cam to establish contacts with other plastic waste suppliers, increasing the amount of raw material available to Pla-Cam, which had previously been a constraint.

“The OCN training has been really useful in helping me to plan my business in such a way that I can help it grow with the resources that I have, and it has helped me to link up with other people working in the plastic sector, which has helped me grow both the amount of raw materials I receive, and the market for my finished products.”
