What are hard plastics?
In this section, we’re looking primarily at HDPE (High density polyethylene), the most commonly recycled hard plastic, and PET (Polyethylene terephthalate). Some examples of HDPE are crates, chairs, water pipes, and some juice bottles; PET’s most common use is as plastic bottles (such as water bottles).
How can hard plastics be recycled?
Hard plastic can be transformed into a number of diverse products from plastic lumber (a term used to describe bricks, tiles and other building materials made from recycled plastic waste), to plates, bowls and shoes. Plastic bottles (PET) also forms an important part of the supply chain to make clothes filling.
